Breakfast and After School Club Training

Outline

This new course will support schools to set up or improve breakfast and after school club provision in schools. It will also address how to help children and families to access a nutritious breakfast at home to ensure they are ready to learn.

Description

This course will explore the evidence-base and methods of showing how a good breakfast can significantly improve attainment and attendance at school. The course will include information on how to manage a breakfast club, access free food or funding, tips and recipes for healthy breakfasts and case studies.

The course will also help schools ensure that all food served after school is nutritious and compliant with the School Food Standards. Delegates will learn how to plan fun, tasty and low cost menus and deliver food related activities to engage pupils with the food they eat.

  • To gain knowledge of how to set up and run effective breakfast and after school provision
  • Ensure all food served across the whole school day is compliant with the school food standards
  • Know how to access food, funding and resources
  • Understand the benefits of eating healthy nutritious food and the impact on pupils attainment and well being
