Implement an effective whole school or college approach to mental health and wellbeing.

This full day face to face training session is designed for senior mental health leads from schools and post 16 settings. The course forms part of our DfE quality assured Senior Mental Health Lead programme, but is also open to all schools as a standalone training course.

Details

The course is led by highly experienced local education and children's services professionals alongside youth mental health qualified trainers. It will cover all eight of the learning outcomes put forward by the DfE; Leadership and management; Identifying need and monitoring impact of interventions; Targeted support and appropriate referrals; Staff development; Creating an ethos and environment; Enabling the student voice; Working with parents, families, and carers and Curriculum, teaching and learning.

The Department for Education (DfE) is offering a £1,200 grant for a senior member of school or college staff to access quality assured training to implement an effective whole school or college approach to mental health and wellbeing in your setting. Outcome

    • Increased understanding of your current and desired position as regards a whole school approach to mental health strategy that champions efforts to promote and support mental health and wellbeing, and brings about strategic change to deliver an effective whole school or college approach in settings.

 

    • Increased knowledge, skills, and confidence of SMHLs to ensure your setting’s whole school approach supports mental health, by understanding and planning appropriate responses to pupils’ and students’ mental health and wellbeing needs.

 

    • Increased awareness of mental health support available to be able to support pupils to get timely and appropriate support.

 

    • Contribute to increased pupil attendance, achievement and attainment in school through a school culture that promotes inclusion and respect, and that values diversity.

 

    • Increased awareness of staff’s own wellbeing, as well as that of their pupils.

 

    • Embedded pupil voice and influence to ensure the voice of every learner is heard, valued and influences decisions that affect them.

 

  • Involvement of parent’s, families and carers to ensure everyone works as a genuine team around the pupils with consistent approaches, and shared aims and strategies.

This course is provided within the Senior Mental Health Lead training programme - Developing a whole school approach to leading mental health in your school. Please ensure you have purchased the Senior Mental Health Lead programme through the contract section on the store before booking this training if you intend to use DfE funding for this course.

This course is also open to schools who are not part of the DfE programme for a pay as you go cost of £275.

Schools who have a 24-25 full or basic package Health & Wellbeing Service SLA can use training credits to attend this course.(2 credits).

Cancellations: If you cancel your booking we require at least 5 working days notice. Failure to provide such notice or non attendance will result in your school being charged in full if using ‘pay as you go’. Leeds schools with a full or basic SLA package who do not inform us within 5 working days will incur an administration charge of £30/delegate
