About Leeds GATE – who we are, our offer to Gypsies and Travellers and to schools.

This session will equip you with the basics for working with Gypsy and Traveller families in a school setting. You will gain foundational knowledge about the cultural, historical, and societal context of life for Gypsies and Travellers.

We will share research and experiences related to education and the issues impacting it. Tips and examples for working with these families will be discussed, and we will provide information on further opportunities and available support.

    • Ethnicity and ethnic status: Understanding the ethnic background of Gypsies and Travellers.

Outcome

As a result of this training session, you will have developed a basic understanding of:

  • The history, culture, and ethnicity of Gypsies and Travellers.
  • The educational and health outcomes for Gypsies and Travellers.
  • You will also gain tips and tools for working with Gypsy and Traveller families.

There is no cost to any Leeds school for this session.

Cancellation Fee
If you have booked a place and are unable to attend or need to cancel your place, please cancel via your Leeds for Learning account at least 48 hours in advance of the event so that we can release your place to delegates on the waiting list. The event is free but we reserve the right to impose a charge of £25 where delegates do not attend and have not informed us of their cancellation.
