The Active School Friendly programme is a whole school and setting approach to recognises and celebrates best practice in physical activity, physical education and school sport.
It is a self-evaluation tool and action planning programme for Schools, Settings, Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres (SILCs) and Colleges anywhere in England.
Details
The Active Schools Friendly programme, utilising a section of the School Health Check, provides a whole school approach (framework, guidance, and support) to develop best practice for PE, PA and school sport. Successful schools/settings will receive recognition for their commitment to:
- providing high quality, regular and age-appropriate Physical education and physical activity in order to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for pupils,
- delivering a curriculum that meets the needs of the pupils and school community whilst meeting the statutory guidance,
- embedding a whole school approach to physical activity and the wider curriculum.
The award will be valid for 3 years from successful self-validation.
Outcome
- Access to the Physical Activity strand on the Healthy Schools online health check tool, enabling you to audit your whole-school provision for PE, PA and school sport.
- An Active Schools Friendly self-validated certificate and logo (sent electronically on completion of the self-evaluation tool), enabling you to celebrate your success and promote your setting as Active Schools friendly.
