Empathy - the most vital skill for 21st century Education.

Empathy Studios will lead this session for teachers looking to enhance the wellbeing, global citizenship and empathy of their students. With 5 years of experience, they are leading in how to develop the skill of empathy through film and storytelling approaches.

Details

Empathy is a skill that can be both a 'vitamin' and a 'painkiller' and this session will highlight the impact of developing the skill of empathy and why it is so vital for the 21st century world.

This session will give attendees a chance to understand how empathy can be taught (to ages 5-18 years old) and the benefits it can bring to schools and education who are facing so many challenges around mental health, emotionally based school avoidance and behaviour.

Using film-based resource, participants will experience the techniques used to foster a culture of understanding and empathy first hand. Participants will also learn how they can take part in the upcoming Empathy Week (free for all schools) and see how schools across the world have implemented empathy as a 'golden thread' in their schools, even attributing empathy to improved behaviour and self-esteem of students.

Outcome

Discover what empathy truly means and how to incorporate this essential skill into your daily practice with practical tools, tips, and resources, including Empathy Week and the Empathy Programme.
